Nick Brusa, Founder and Coach of Golden Stick Hockey

Golden Stick Hockey exists for players and parents who want clear guidance through youth and junior hockey. The goal is simple: help players understand how coaches evaluate them, grow with purpose, and build confidence that carries beyond the rink.
The Journey Behind Golden Stick
I started with a dream, a pair of skates that didn’t quite fit, and a love for the game that kept me on the ice long after practice ended. I lived the grind through youth, juniors, and NCAA hockey, and now I’m helping the next generation navigate it with more clarity and direction.
I’ve coached and developed players who have gone on to play in the NCAA and the NHL. Over time I built Golden Stick Hockey as a program trusted by families who want personalized player development that combines on-ice skill work, mindset training, and mentorship.
My mission is to guide each player toward their potential through structure, feedback, and accountability so they can perform with confidence and character in every area of life.
What Makes Golden Stick Different
Parents and players often face the same challenges:
• It’s hard to know what coaches are looking for
• It’s hard to see steady progress
• It’s hard to find a program that connects skill work with mindset and preparation
Golden Stick Hockey was built to solve those challenges. Whether it’s video breakdowns, on-ice sessions, or mindset coaching, I bring a coach’s eye, a mentor’s heart, and a professional standard to everything I do. Every player I work with learns how to think, move, and prepare like a professional, no matter their level.
For families who want more than “just work harder,” Golden Stick Hockey provides a connected path from youth to junior hockey. It focuses on growth that lasts by building skill, confidence, and opportunity through clear instruction and individualized feedback.
